Bede’s School, located at Lower Dicker in East Sussex, was founded in 1895 and has a long-standing tradition of providing high-quality education in a picturesque rural setting near the South Downs.

Delta Green has been involved in developments on this site since 2018, when we designed a 60-room student residential boarding block with associated staff accommodation.

Since then, we have undertaken a number of commissions for the client, primarily focused on site-wide energy strategies and the replacement and upgrading of key plant infrastructure. These projects have supported the ongoing evolution of the campus, improving efficiency, resilience, and long-term performance.

In 2025, Delta Green was appointed as Client Advisor to support the development of a new Middle School Building. This project represents a significant investment in the future of the school, providing modern, flexible learning environments tailored to the needs of younger pupils.

The Middle School Building is centred around a multi-use hall, and incorporates predominantly teaching accommodation, alongside a library and dedicated staff facilities. In response to the building’s proximity to the sports pitches, the design also includes changing rooms and associated amenities.

We worked closely with the architects, Miller Bourne, contributing to the development of a cohesive and well-integrated design that reflects both the functional requirements of the school and the character of the wider campus. The building is currently scheduled for completion in Summer 2027, and will form an important addition to the school’s estate, supporting its continued growth and development.
