St Wilfrid’s Hospice, Chichester
St Wilfrid’s Hospice is an independent charity providing specialist palliative and end-of-life care across West Sussex and Hampshire. The project involved the development of a new purpose-built hospice at Walton Lane, Bosham, replacing the charity’s previous facility in Chichester. The new hospice provides modern inpatient accommodation alongside day hospice and community services, treatment and therapy spaces, family and quiet rooms, communal areas, and staff facilities. Designed to create a welcoming and homely environment, the development comprises a series of linked buildings set within landscaped gardens, providing high-quality facilities from which St Wilfrid’s can deliver specialist care to patients and their families.
Delta Green was initially appointed to undertake an appraisal of the charity’s former site, identifying infrastructure and building services requirements, and subsequently assisted in the evaluation of alternative development sites. Following site selection, Delta Green was appointed to deliver the full Building Engineering Services design for the new hospice development. Acting as a trusted advisor to the client throughout the project, Delta Green monitored the construction phase, reviewing the quality and compliance of the Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health installations to ensure they were delivered in accordance with the design intent. We also supported the client team throughout commissioning, testing and project handover, helping to ensure the completed facility met both the operational requirements of the hospice and the needs of its patients, visitors and staff.
Delta Green continues to support St Wilfrid’s Hospice across its estate through a range of improvement projects, including the installation of Solar PV systems and alterations to existing building services infrastructure to accommodate changing operational requirements and improve energy performance.
