What We Do

Delta Green are designers of Mechanical and Electrical Building Services and additionally offer a wide range of services to compliment our holistic approach to reduce carbon emissions from new and existing buildings.  This sustainable advice includes thermal modelling and a suite of Environmental Assessment techniques, including BREEAM and Code for Sustainable Home assessments.

The founders conceived Delta Green with the ethos of providing a first class service to our clients, to work with them, not just for them, and to understand our clients business so we can tailor our solutions to their requirements.

At Delta Green we have created a team with a flexible can do attitude, who value our client and business partners and work hard to develop open and long term relationships.

We believe in creating the right environment for our clients and this starts in our own office. An environment where we enjoy what we do and are allowed to do it.  Our designers are creative and innovative, we want to give them room to thrive and to work proactively and efficiently.

Launched in 2012, following many successful years working together, we have extensive experience of delivering projects with a construction value up to £60M.

James Porter - Director

James Porter is the Managing Director of Delta Green.

Having worked for a number of Engineering Practices as Director and Non-Exec Director James founded the company in 2011.

James is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer.  He has 20 years’ experience in the construction industry working on projects both in the UK and abroad.  James has worked in most sectors but specialises in Commercial, Healthcare, Education and Leisure, particularly Cinemas.

As well as an acute awareness of Low Energy Design James undertakes Acquisition and Condition Surveys for clients.  He is also has vast experience of Dilapidation Surveys and negotiations.

He is a client focused consultant who builds and values relationships with our clients and colleagues.

Ben Campbell

Qualifications 

  • MSc Building Services Engineering
  • BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineer

In late 2014, Ben joined the team at Delta Green Environmental Design as a Senior Mechanical Engineer. He has 10 years’ experience working in the construction industry, during which his M&E training has focused on mechanical design and energy consultancy.  Ben trained as an Accredited Energy Assessor in 2011 utilising the IES software suite and he has worked in a broad range of sectors including Local Authority, Healthcare, Commercial, Education, Leisure and Residential.

Ben’s skills include heating design, mechanical and natural ventilation design, public health design, gas distribution design, pipe sizing calculations, duct sizing calculations, specialist healthcare design and mechanical load assessments. He utilises a number of engineering software packages, including; Cymap Mechanical, Bentley Hevacomp, IES software suite and AutoCAD.

Ben has experience liaising with utility providers to deliver new gas and water supplies to developments. He is involved in projects from initial design concept through to installation and commissioning to client handover.

Ben has experience carrying out condition surveys of existing building stock throughout the UK. Whilst at Delta Green, he has carried out condition surveys for a number of clients, primarily large private education estates and public sector buildings. As part of the condition survey process, Ben is able to identify services approaching end of serviceable life and clarify the financial implications of repairing or replacing the system.

George Kent

Qualifications

In 2007 George graduated from the University of Nottingham, gaining an upper second class honours degree in Architectural Environment Engineering.  During this degree course George gained an understanding of building services design, with a specific focus on low carbon design and renewable technologies.

George has 10 years of experience in the construction industry, during which his M&E training has been focused towards sustainable construction and energy consultancy.  George trained as a BREEAM assessor in 2008, and has offered his expertise to add value to projects within in a wide range of sectors.

In late 2013 George joined the team at Delta Green Environmental Design as a Senior Sustainability Consultant. As well as delivering BREEAM consultancy, George continues to apply his experience to projects through his application of the IES software suite. By reviewing Part L performance, and assessing factors such as potential CO2 emissions, daylight levels and thermal performance George offers valuable advice to the project team, steering the design towards a low carbon and sustainable solution that performs beyond the client’s expectations.

Adam Chamberlain

Qualifications

Adam Chamberlain has worked at Delta Green as an Electrical Engineer since 2013. With an extensive technical experience, Adam has worked on a range of projects throughout the UK and overseas. Adam has 9 years’ experience working for a nationwide cinema chain and has wider experience in a broad range of sectors including Healthcare, Hospices, Commercial, Education, Leisure, Residential, Local Authority.  He has recently undertaken design works in Listed Buildings.

Adams  skills includes lighting design, cable calculations, LV distribution design, fire alarm design, security systems design, CCTV systems design, lightning protection design, communal television system design, specialist healthcare systems design and electrical load assessments. He utilises a number of engineering software packages, including; Amtech, Hevacomp, AutoCAD, Dialux, Dialux evo.

Adam has experience liaising with utility providers to deliver new electricity supplies to developments. Adam is involved from the initial load assessment through to installation and commissioning on site.

Steve Searle

Qualifications

Steve Searle is Senior CAD Engineer at Delta Green. Having worked for a number of Engineering Practices as Mechanical & Electrical Draughtsman / Drawing Office Manager / Assistant Building Services Engineer.   Steve joined Delta Green in 2013 as a CAD Designer and Co-ordinator.

Steve has 46 years’ experience in the construction industry working on projects both in the UK and abroad.  Steve has worked in most sectors but particularly enjoys the challenges of Historical and Listed buildings where co-ordination and detailing are particularly important.

Charlie Weller

Qualifications 

  • MEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering

Charlie Weller graduated from the University of Lincoln in 2015 with a combined Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Shortly after graduating Charlie joined Delta Green Environmental Design as a graduate mechanical engineer.  Charlie is gaining practical experience working on a range of projects.  Charlie brings fresh ideas to the team, questions concepts and is creative in this solutions.  To develop our designs Charlie utilises a range of software systems including AutoCad, Cymap & IES Virtual Enviroment to design mechanical services.  He is conversant in BIM, using Revit MEP.

Jack Price

Qualifications

Jack graduated from the University of Brighton in 2012 with a Masters Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. During that time, Jack was accepted onto the Excellence Within Industry Scheme which gave him the opportunity to undertake work experience roles with a variety of companies. The roles included design consultancy, construction and asset management directly and indirectly for a main utility company in the South of England.

Jack began work with a Principal Contractor working on a wide range of projects in the Water Industry. During this time, Jack was responsible for managing a number of projects from inception to and throughout operation.

In 2015, Jack joined Delta Green Environmental Design as an Electrical Engineer. Jack has benefited from a hugely diverse project portfolio, working on small to medium size projects including health care facilities, schools, sports centres, offices, cinemas. Jack’s duties typically include general and emergency lighting calculations, cable calculations, Low Voltage distribution design, low voltage systems design such as data infrastructure, fire alarm and security, and electrical load assessments.

Jack is currently progressing his application to become a Chartered Electrical Engineer with the Institution of Engineering Technology.

Dianne Bowles

Dianne Bowles specialises in undertaking dynamic thermal modelling of buildings to understand the building physics and resulting internal environment.  This information is essential to design teams to develop passive design solutions whilst achieving thermal comfort for building users.

Dianne has extensive experience in evaluating the potential for low and zero carbon technologies on a development, and determining the appropriate combinations of technologies and systems (fabric and services) to achieve Building Regulations Part L2A compliance.

As a BREEAM Assessor Dianne has undertaken a significant number of BREEAM assessments for a variety of Clients and building types, covering Education, Offices, Mixed use schemes, Industrial and Bespoke Car Showrooms. She is a highly professional and skilled assessor capable of providing up-front guidance to the Client’s design team from the earliest stages of a project.  Dianne regularly assists clients to achieve Excellent ratings on their schemes.
